Project scope:
- 350 m sandy beach between the old shipyard and Limassol Marina – previously closed off from the public.
- 1 050 m cycle and pedestrian path (4.5 m wide) with cooled surface, independently lit with motion sensors, and planting and urban furniture.
- Financed by the Limassol Municipality with the help of the Government; path budget €397 000 + VAT.
- Timescale: commenced mid-July 2025, to finish by autumn 2025.
- Seabed clearance to clear rubbish, derelict warehouses and industrial complexes, and subsequent construction of minimal leisure facilities: benches, sea access and landscaping.
Objectives:
- Create a new seaside leisure zone for residents of Agios Antonios, Agios Ioannis and Tsiflikoudia.
- Clear the area of waste, dismantle outdated facilities and warehouses.
- Prepare and cleanse the seabed as the first step towards a quality beach experience.
“As part of the seafront reconstruction, a 350-metre beach is being created to provide a new space for leisure, entertainment and relaxation for all residents.” “…municipal authorities will immediately commence seabed clearance and install core facilities so the beach becomes both functional and attractive.”
Location & Impact: The project stretches from the harbor to the marina, also covering the new beach and promenade that will be linked to the new port district. The beach and walk will greatly improve pedestrian and cycling facilities across the entire coast.
