As the largest municipality area, second only to Limassol in size, Strovolos is a vast suburb. The area, noted for its quiet environment, boasts several well-regarded schools, including private and public and nursery to secondary options. It is also close to the European University of Cyprus and University of Nicosia campuses.
Acropolis Park stands out among its parks and green spaces for families, while there is a multiplex cinema, restaurant culture, and plenty of shopping options from supermarkets to malls to enjoy. Libraries, a theatre and a sports centre are also accommodated. Families can access many pharmacies in the district, along with hospitals, including Nicosia General Hospital and Aretaeio Hospital.

A thriving area, Engomi is an upscale residential suburb of Nicosia, noted for its expat contingent. Located in Nicosia’s southwest, Lakatamia is the capital’s third-largest municipality. It has witnessed significant development, offering families a host of affordable and luxury housing options. The area has a variety of reputable schools catering to different educational needs. For amenities, the area features a 2,000-capacity amphitheatre which is used as a cultural centre to host theatrical, dancing, and musical performances, concerts and film presentations. There is also a gallery to host diverse exhibitions, lectures and other functions. Lakatemia is equipped with a municipal athletic centre, which includes a stadium and three swimming pools, one of which is to Olympic standard. Aglantzia is a charming area, popular for its proximity to Athalassa National Forest Park, widely regarded as the ‘green lungs’ of the capital. The area’s economy is mainly based on the services sector, with The University of Cyprus, national television and banks having their bases here. Popular annual activities include cultural events, the Aglantzia Jazz Festival and the Carnival Parade.
Infrastructure Investments
Nicosia is witnessing many infrastructure projects that will change the face of the city. These include the rejuvenation of “The Landmark Hotel” into a luxury operation alongside two high-rise buildings featuring 53 apartments. The near-€20 million redevelopment of Nicosia’s former GSP stadium is currently entering its final phase. The site, which will become Nicosia’s largest plaza for 18,000 people, will include landscaped hills, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation building, an amphitheatre, cafes and restaurants. One of the biggest construction projects is the Nicosia Ring Road. Funded by the EU, the bypass, which will be integrated into the trans-European road network, will begin from the Limassol-Nicosia highway in Tseri. It will feature a 7.5 km four-lane highway and an additional 10 km of connecting roads. Other developments include new buildings for government ministries, a new archaeological museum on the site of the city’s old hospital, a new Jumbo superstore, and a multi-storey complex near the Limassol-Nicosia highway. The Nicosia authorities are also set to introduce a 2030 strategic plan. Some of the objectives include ensuring citizens have a maximum 15-minute access to daily necessities, reducing speed limits, and investing more in public transport and cycling routes.Choosing The Right Neighborhood
